This drawing was created shortly after my first experience living and studying in Florence, Italy. While I was interested in furthering my classical training, I had been fascinated by Michelangelo’s work for many years and wanted to explore his home city.
During this time it became vividly clear to me that art can be beautifully rendered, but without life and spirit. As I discussed this with an acquaintance at the Uffizi gallery library, he urged me to remember that the Renaissance was about renewal and new life.
