My formal training as an artist initially focused on drawing in graphite and charcoal. When I had mastered geometric objects, I moved on to skeletons and the live model. Subsequently, when I began working with oil paint, I created some grisaille studies followed by this study of the Hermes cast. The goal with this was to not only better understand paint handling, but also to train my eyes to see subtle color shifts.
