On my first trip to New York, I spent much of the weekend at the MET and explored just about every inch of the museum. I came across Philippe Laurent Roland’s graceful terracotta sculpture Sleeping Boy c.1774 and snapped a few photos through the glass. Later I used the photo reference to create this large painting while living in a tiny studio apartment. The golden tones felt angelic so I titled the painting, Sleeping Angel.
